Alice Kingdom? Do you realize that you have-What.
[00:00:30.840] - Alice Kingdom
Are you doing? What are you doing? This is going to be the worst podcast ever? Yeah.
[00:00:37.840] - Victoria Glam
Do you realize that you have a massive SEO problem? Yeah. Do I? Have you ever Googled your name? Do I? Have you ever Googled your name?
[00:00:43.970] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah, I get Alice in Wonderland come up quite a lot.
[00:00:47.970] - Victoria Glam
I was telling you before I record podcasts with people, I like to research them. I go and see have they done other podcasts? Have they done interviews? Have they ever been featured in a magazine? What even like blog posts or long form captions on Instagram? Anything that gives insight to who you are, your experiences or things that you really stand for, so that I can ask you deeper questions more than just like, how did you get.
[00:01:13.260] - Alice Kingdom
Started in PMU? So while we're going to talk about going down the rabbit hole and whether I should eat something that makes me bigger and smaller, is that what.
[00:01:20.910] - Victoria Glam
We're doing? You're always going.
[00:01:21.850] - Alice Kingdom
To be smaller, because you don't.
[00:01:23.350] - Victoria Glam
Eat anymore. No, but that really threw me for a loop. I couldn't find anything on you, because I think because your husband's a very secretive person, you probably keep a lot of personal information on the internet anyway.
[00:01:35.240] - Alice Kingdom
No, I think you're probably right. I think I've got a massive SEO problem.
[00:01:39.280] - Victoria Glam
And then also the fact that you probably should sue the Wall Disney Corporation.
[00:01:42.760] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah, or they need to be suing me. Who knows?
[00:01:48.580] - Victoria Glam
But I did want to ask you, so you are a prolific business owner. You don't just own your own business, but you often have to move it and you keep it afloat. You're a very well-respected name. I've said this many times over the last probably two years, like everybody knows Alice, and everyone does, and they always come to you. It's true, and they come to you to fix it. It's true, and they come to you to fix it. Like, Oh, can you get me in? Or can you help me? Can you give me this ticket? Have you heard from this person? Do you know this person? Can you put us in contact? You have really situated yourself into, like I was jokingly calling you the Queen of your Kingdom. But truly, when you think UK, you think Alice Kingdom.
[00:02:26.010] - Alice Kingdom
Oh, that's so sweet.
[00:02:27.040] - Victoria Glam
And true. And the name helps. And here we are at your conference.
[00:02:33.060] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah.
[00:02:33.670] - Victoria Glam
I was wondering, you give off oldest child energy.
[00:02:37.670] - Alice Kingdom
Do I? What's oldest child energy?
[00:02:40.230] - Victoria Glam
You're going to handle it. You're going to get everybody their jobs, you're going to keep everyone in order, you'll fix it, you'll make everything okay, you give off older.
[00:02:49.550] - Alice Kingdom
Child energy. I am the older child, the SEO for that.
[00:02:53.860] - Victoria Glam
Did your parents own businesses? Did your parents own businesses?
[00:02:57.050] - Alice Kingdom
Don't. I'm the first business owner, I think out of... My dad was self-employed for a long time. What did he do? He was a painter and decorator.
[00:03:09.110] - Victoria Glam
Oh, really? Jasmine de Bielis's dad was a roofer.
[00:03:11.730] - Alice Kingdom
I did know him. I used to joke that we'd go into business together and he's St. Louis Linus, and he's St. Louis Linus. It would be Robert, Allen, Linus and Daughte. You know those companies were always and sons. -and Daughte and sons. We were going to do that. I was going to do the interior design because I was quite creative. I'm creative, and he was going to make it happen. But he was a one man with a paintbrush.
[00:03:37.220] - Victoria Glam
I tell my husband those renovations. He doesn't want to hire anybody. He doesn't want to talk to any homeowners. If he could just own the house, fix the house and pay himself, he would do that. He hates that thing, but I love the parts of business that include networking, and expanding, meeting people, collaborating, and you seem to really thrive on that, which is why I think it's so easy for you to fill a room.
[00:03:59.190] - Alice Kingdom
I do love it. I do enjoy it, and I think you have to.
[00:04:02.060] - Victoria Glam
How did that start?
[00:04:03.430] - Alice Kingdom
I don't know. I think most of the jobs that I've always done have been very people centric.
[00:04:09.340] - Victoria Glam
What jobs? What were they?
[00:04:10.620] - Alice Kingdom
My very first job was working in double glazing sales. What is that? For windows, like double glazing. When we were taking out single pane glass and putting in double glazing, because we're cold in the UK and we have everything double glazed. I worked for a fantastic company called Supremeo Glaze, because they were super eaves. I started working for them in their marketing department.
[00:04:35.610] - Victoria Glam
Oh, really? You started.
[00:04:36.730] - Alice Kingdom
In marketing? Yeah, I started in marketing. Well, I started on the phone picking up, Hello, Mrs. Smith. Would you like a conservatory? Hello, Mrs. Smith. Would you like some moreWould you like some more windows? Do you need a back door? Would you like some more windows? That's what I started. Literally, that's what we used to do.
[00:04:53.860] - Victoria Glam
Who's at the back door?
[00:04:54.380] - Alice Kingdom
It's Alice. Yeah, it's me. That's what I used to do. I used to talk to people on the phone and then I went into the marketing department and I was helping to run the sales team, but it's very people centric. Then I did recruitment. Again, that's all about talking with people and I was in a camp.
[00:05:11.170] - Victoria Glam
Yeah, and really getting to understand them so you're placing them in the.
[00:05:13.530] - Alice Kingdom
Right spots. Yeah, and then doing account management for them, so going into the businesses and understanding what their problems were and trying to find the right people. Then I did some estate agency for a little while. I then got into finance. I stayed in finance for a long time, so doing financial advice. But that was all still very much account management.
[00:05:34.640] - Victoria Glam
That's very far removed though from beauty.
[00:05:38.040] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah.
[00:05:38.980] - Victoria Glam
How did that evolve?
[00:05:40.620] - Alice Kingdom
I love a beauty treatment. I'm not a particularly girly girl. I don't spend lots of time having my hair or my nails done, but I've always liked those treats and those treatments. I've always been really interested in the science behind them. I met a lady, I met another military wife who was doing leg waxing in her bedroom. We were talking about all these wonderful treatments to do with body toning and skin tightening and things, and she said, You can buy these machines and maybe we should just buy one and we'll do the treatments on each other. Why not? I went, That sounds like a great idea. Yeah, because you're fiscally responsible. That's what she did. She bought a machine. The machine came with training for two people and she said, Hey, do you want to come with me? -yeah. -that was my very first entrance into the beauty industry, was getting trained with a skin tightening machine. Then because of insurance and other bits and pieces, I added more courses and things onto there. Truly, it was... I thought it was going to be a bit of a hobby. I thought it was going to be a hobby.
[00:06:46.910] - Victoria Glam
Yeah, it's hard to leave a financially stable job for something you just decided to on a whim to pick up.
[00:06:51.890] - Alice Kingdom
Natural crash. It wasn't really financially stable anymore.
[00:06:54.380] - Victoria Glam
Okay, so this was like.
[00:06:55.920] - Alice Kingdom
2008, '09? Well, this was a.
[00:06:56.920] - Victoria Glam
Cut anymore. Okay, so this was.
[00:06:58.480] - Alice Kingdom
Like 2008, '09? Well, this was a couple of years after that, but when I got pregnant with my son, I was on a contract, so I didn't have anything actually to go back to. I had this time and I just really enjoyed setting up the website and doing all the bits back of house as well as the front of house bit. -and then whenIt's.
[00:07:21.030] - Victoria Glam
Like all this child in you. Make it all organized.
[00:07:24.610] - Alice Kingdom
I was literally doing treatments in my kitchen. That's what I started out doing. I had a separate area of my kitchen, which was all screened off and was made to look like a nice little clinic. We had people visit my house and have treatments. You like cooking? No, not at the same time. I have a spaghetti on the stove. Well, Steve was away. He was away in Afghanistan.
[00:07:47.630] - Victoria Glam
By the way, how did you guys meet?
[00:07:49.620] - Alice Kingdom
We met through a mutual friend. I know a girl that he used to sit next to him in maths, in their maths lessons.
[00:07:56.750] - Victoria Glam
That's funny. I used to go to school my husband and I. Hes the one in high school, my.
[00:08:00.710] - Alice Kingdom
Husband and I. Yeah, I remember.
[00:08:01.840] - Victoria Glam
You saying. He beat up my boyfriend.
[00:08:03.140] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah.
[00:08:03.520] - Victoria Glam
That's how we met.
[00:08:04.360] - Alice Kingdom
That's so cool.
[00:08:05.240] - Victoria Glam
I love it. That's so funny. But so.
[00:08:07.990] - Alice Kingdom
He's away a lot. He's away a lot.
[00:08:09.740] - Victoria Glam
And you needed something to focus on. But then you.
[00:08:11.590] - Alice Kingdom
Had children. Then I had children. So that was really good. I can remember getting this phone call from a woman, a phone call from a woman from a local magazine. It was called Cardiff First, and it was like the Vogue magazine of Cardiff. Cardiff is the capital city of Wales. And she said, We've seen that you're doing this treatment and we think that you'd be really good in our magazine. Now I know this now that this is a spiel to get me to pay.
[00:08:37.500] - Victoria Glam
For advertising. -right, but at the time it.
[00:08:39.130] - Alice Kingdom
Sounded amazing. -but at the time it sounded amazing. I said to her, Well, I'd love to be in this thing and I think I'd get business from it, but I don't have any time to do any more clients. She said, Wouldn't that be a nice problem to have? If you had so many clients, you didn't have enough time, wouldn't that be a nice problem to have? I can remember thinking, Take my money, let's do it. When I got pregnant with my daughter, I thought, Well, I'll stop the advertising, I'll take a break. That's what I did, I stopped advertising. The phone didn't stop ringing. The phone didn't stop ringing. The inquiries didn't stop coming in. And so at 36 weeks pregnant, I was employing staff and opening a salon.
[00:09:25.740] - Victoria Glam
Oh, my God.
[00:09:27.190] - Alice Kingdom
That's so much the best. It all sloballed, You know you're going to have another baby, don't you? And I'm like, Yeah, it'll be fine. It's fine. She's going to be fine.
[00:09:34.210] - Victoria Glam
She's going to be fine.
[00:09:36.530] - Alice Kingdom
And it just changed and evolved. After I had Rose, I got into permanent makeup. The skin tightening side of things and the skincare really interests me, but it didn't fit that creative element that I wanted. It fulfilled the science bit more for me, and it fulfilled the creative. So it's just spiraled from there.
[00:09:59.880] - Victoria Glam
You've had to do it more than once because your husband is in military. You've moved how many times?
[00:10:06.190] - Alice Kingdom
Oh, goodness me, I don't know.
[00:10:08.570] - Victoria Glam
How many times have you moved the business?
[00:10:10.230] - Alice Kingdom
The business is again, I don't know, maybe four, five, six times.
[00:10:14.300] - Victoria Glam
What was the feeling like the first time you realized you were going to have to close your doors and start over somewhere else?
[00:10:19.010] - Alice Kingdom
I guess it was never a shock because whenever I start something, I know that that's a possibility. It was scary, but then I just thought, Well, I've done it once. I've done it once, and now I'm doing it. Someone also said to me once, When you do something again, you're not doing it from scratch, you're doing it from experience. And I love that because that is exactly what I'm doing. I know what's worked for me in the past. I know what hasn't worked for me. I know who my clients are. I know you're very big on knowing who to target or not. And of course, now that I know that things will move and change. Now to protect, I suppose, my business, things like conference are more important, things like the online training that I do, things like the distributorship of pigments and things, all built into that.
[00:11:14.150] - Victoria Glam
How did you move from... Obviously, you were a natural at getting clients. I mean, you couldn't stop getting clients even when you wanted to. How did you move into getting students and knowing you were ready to train?
[00:11:25.370] - Alice Kingdom
I was asked to be a trainer. I originally trained with a company called Everlasting Browse who have been just amazing, amazing products, amazing people, so ethical. I honestly would not be where I am without their initial support. -where are they coming to the conference? -they should be coming to dinner tonight, two of them. -yeah. A couple of them move out of the country.
[00:11:50.500] - Victoria Glam
And things like that. -they're probably.
[00:11:51.070] - Alice Kingdom
So proud of you. -oh, hopefully, I think so. They've just become really good friends. Especially since they.
[00:11:53.900] - Victoria Glam
Picked you out of a crowd, they hand-picked.
[00:11:55.380] - Alice Kingdom
You and said to you. But I was that annoying student that said, Right, you've trained me in this. What else can I do? What else can I do? I kept coming back and on one of the courses, the trainer said... People would be asking questions while the trainer was working and I would be answering the questions on her behalf, and I said, Oh, I'm really sorry, Monica, I keep answering the questions, and I feel like... And she said, No, this is fantastic because I reckon you're giving the right answers. You've been here enough times now, Alice, that when someone's saying, What's that product that you're using? You can tell them. What's in it?
[00:12:33.280] - Victoria Glam
Why are you using it?
[00:12:34.000] - Alice Kingdom
Can you tell them? Yeah, absolutely, and I'll add to it. Off the back of that, they asked me to go and do a big beauty show and be one of their live demonstrators on the stage. That's what I did. I went and did that. That was amazing. To demonstrate life. Oh, my God. I've never been so tired in my life. I don't even know how many people I did that day. It was almost like someone else was mapping them. They were just piling me. Oh, yeah, I mean, it was like a. But it was amazing. It was amazing. We did two days of that, and then at the dinner afterwards, when we were all just having a chin out, they said to me, Have you got your teaching qualifications? I said, No, I haven't. I never thought about it. Well, you're going to have to go and get them because we want you to train for us. That was where that started.
[00:13:21.600] - Victoria Glam
What was the first moment in your career? It may have been that one, but what was your first moment in your career where you felt like, I'm really doing something. I don't know.
[00:13:30.320] - Alice Kingdom
I'm not just.
[00:13:30.710] - Victoria Glam
A brown.
[00:13:30.950] - Alice Kingdom
Artist, I'm really doing something. -also, lots of us have this massive imposter syndrome. So you have imposter syndrome. -yeah. -so you have...
[00:13:39.720] - Victoria Glam
-no one has sat in that chair who doesn't have it.
[00:13:41.700] - Alice Kingdom
No, we're all human.
[00:13:44.160] - Victoria Glam
No one sat in this chair who does have it.
[00:13:48.400] - Victoria Glam
I just said this. But yes, moments.
[00:13:51.080] - Alice Kingdom
This.
[00:13:51.560] - Victoria Glam
Is.
[00:13:51.920] - Alice Kingdom
A huge deal.
[00:13:54.380] - Victoria Glam
To me right now.
[00:13:55.080] - Alice Kingdom
You saw me on stage, introducing the conference, I nearly lost. And the conference, I nearly lost it. I've been known to be a bit of an ice cream. I'm not at all. I'm so super lovely and emotional. I was.
[00:14:06.260] - Victoria Glam
About to say that was the most emotion I've ever seen you show, and I've seen you in actually a really hard moment before, and this was the most moisture I've seen in your eyes.
[00:14:16.320] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah, I don't do moist eyes. I don't get hay fever, I don't have allergies. I have.
[00:14:22.010] - Victoria Glam
Discussed that with the girls at my shop when I got back from Czech. I mentioned what happened in the bathroom, and I was like, That's very British. I'm like, Right, sorry about that. Sorry I was crying because something terrible happened. Anyway, and then back to the dance floor. I was like, That was.
[00:14:38.760] - Alice Kingdom
The most- God, I've forgotten all about that. You know.
[00:14:41.180] - Victoria Glam
That was...
[00:14:43.710] - Alice Kingdom
I'd had some very bad news at that conference. Yeah, we don't have to tell you. -no, we won't, but I'd have some really bad news. -it was.
[00:14:49.510] - Victoria Glam
Amazing to.
[00:14:50.030] - Alice Kingdom
See that. -so yeah, you.
[00:14:50.990] - Victoria Glam
Have actually seen it twice. No, this was more.
[00:14:54.030] - Alice Kingdom
Emotional than that. -was it?
[00:14:55.760] - Victoria Glam
But this was something that you earned and you worked so hard for.
[00:14:58.800] - Alice Kingdom
That blindsided me, to be fair, standing on that stage and everything that I planned on saying, I meant it. I meant it. These are... You cannot put events on like this and not give away a part of you if you're going to do it well. You cannot train and not give away a part of you and do it well. You just can't.
[00:15:21.420] - Victoria Glam
How do you know if you did it well? What's the impact?
[00:15:25.620] - Alice Kingdom
I'll see the feedback forms. So validation? Yeah, external validation. I've had a lot of validation. People are saying that it's really good and that's great. But I think as well, when you strive and when you're a bit of a perfectionist, don't think anything is ever... Not that it's not enough, but you're always looking for the next thing.
[00:15:43.390] - Victoria Glam
That is true, and I think anyone who is a high level achiever never appreciates the moment. You know who's very good at reminding me to.
[00:15:52.930] - Alice Kingdom
Stop.
[00:15:53.690] - Victoria Glam
And really soak it in is Mindy. I think it's because she has seven fucking kids, but she's just everyone's mom. So every time there is a big thing that happens, and I'm in the group chat because me, Katie, and Mindy talk all day every day and have for a very long time, Oh, my God. This happened. Oh, my God. I just closed on an acre and a half on the river in our town, which has been my dream since I knew what a river was. And she messaged me and said, Take a deep breath. Stop what you're doing. Open the camera and video your kids running on this land before you put a house on it, and really realize the weight of the moment that you've purchased something you thought you could never afford. And she's so good at stopping and remembering those little moments. So I've started doing it for my kids and my husband because I value that so much. So I'm going to have to start annoying you in the same way.
[00:16:43.840] - Alice Kingdom
My dad was very sweet. I talk a lot about my kids, I love my kids, I love my kids, I love my husband, I've got a great... I'm very lucky, I've got a very nice... We're comfortable financially. We're not huge earners, but we do okay. We've got a lot more than a lot of other people have. So I talk about my life with my dad a lot, but because my business and what I do is such an integral part of me too. I think I talk a lot to him about eyebrows and permanent makeup, and he just doesn't really get it at all. But he was so sweet. He sent a card last week and I actually thought it was a card for my son's birthday on Thursday, and it was a card in a colored envelope. So when it arrived through the post, I just put it with the other colored cards and didn't look. My son opened it on his... When he had an early birthday, because we were going to be here, he opened the card and he said, This card says good luck. I don't understand. How old is he turning now?
[00:17:45.460] - Alice Kingdom
He's 12. He was like, This card says good luck. But it was from my dad. My dad had sent me this card saying-He's got to be still-I know how hard you've worked and I know how important it is to you and good luck. Take a moment. Take a moment to remember what's what.
[00:18:07.150] - Victoria Glam
Take a deep look around and really look at what you've done, look at what.
[00:18:10.020] - Alice Kingdom
You've built. That's amazing. I don't know who it was that said it, but I can remember someone saying, At the end of your life, you'll never wish that you did another set of eyebrows. You'll never wish that you opened another business or went to another meeting or did another Zoom call or went to another conference. You will want to have made sure that you've spent that time with your friends and your family and the people that you love. Right. And so it is a balance, especially when you love your job.
[00:18:37.510] - Victoria Glam
It becomes really difficult. I was going to ask you that because you had young children while you were building a business. A lot of people have that same story. I got pregnant, I found out I was pregnant a week after my initial microblading training. I was so pissed because my husband totally applauded that. He didn't plan that on me. But you are are you in the unique position of having done something I don't know anyone else who has done because I'm from the States, where your kids go to boarding school. They do. Actually you have bought yourself quite a bit of time to focus on things, and then you know when that deadline is, you know when they're coming home for the weekend or a holiday?
[00:19:16.360] - Alice Kingdom
So this last two years has been... I have the best of both worlds. I have the best of both worlds. Because my husband's in the military, there is a scheme in the UK that because we move around so often for continuity of education, they go to boarding school, and boarding schools for anyone that's watching, I love my children, they're not big gray boxes that you just send your kids off to and you only see them at Christmas. We see them every day. -to be.
[00:19:40.970] - Victoria Glam
Fair, in the US that is what we do. If you go to boarding school, it's because you were too bad for anybody around you to take care of you.
[00:19:46.690] - Alice Kingdom
-yeah, well, this is lovely. They're in like the house looks like Hogwarts, in acres and acres of beautiful countryside, and they play lots of sports and they swim and they absolutely adore it. But and they come home every weekend. But it means that Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night, I'm not having to help brush teeth to-.
[00:20:11.950] - Victoria Glam
Homework, fight, argue. You have.
[00:20:14.870] - Alice Kingdom
Time to do this one. And that's given me freedom. It means that I can fly to check. As long as it's only for those four days, it's a bit more complicated. If anyone ever wants me to do anything on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, I'm in. I'm in. Those are like my days.
[00:20:28.640] - Victoria Glam
You're also one of the hardest partiers. I don't know anybody else who fell off a horse, stood up, fixed their dress and said, Right, I need a shot.
[00:20:37.950] - Alice Kingdom
I don't know if- It wasn't a real horse. Does it matter? I don't know if that makes it worse. But it wasn't even moving.
[00:20:44.900] - Victoria Glam
Alice fell off a horse. Right before she did, what do you call it when you side-saddle ride?
[00:20:52.010] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah, just side-saddle, isn't it?
[00:20:54.180] - Victoria Glam
You're calling it something else in the video. Did I? It doesn't matter. She was riding regular, and then she said, Right, side-saddle now. She said, This is easy for me. She just walked like a fall-off. The thing.
[00:21:06.680] - Alice Kingdom
Is, when we first saw the horse on the first day- And she kept walking. I can remember saying, I'm going to end up on that horse. And every time I don't know you well, I'm like, I will. It's going to happen. I know myself too well that that is what's going.
[00:21:20.280] - Victoria Glam
To happen. And by the way, those little moments, while they're really funny to us, and it was a bonding moment for everyone that we had all these funny little moments during that convention, every time we get together, we talk about something that happened at this conference or that conference. That is truly how the people that you want like, Oh, yeah, well, they're all a little click. They all do collaborations together. They do products together. They sell for each other. That's how they know each other. Yeah. This is where relationships are made. If you're not going to conferences, DMing somebody back and forth a couple of times a week is not nearly the same as spending three days watching Alice Kingdom attempt to refrain from getting on board.

The Raffer take the winners stage in the winners circle after we unblocked after we unbolted a gate and went into an area that we shouldn't have been in.

Or get arrested in Frankfurt, Germany.
[00:22:13.650] - Alice Kingdom
For.
[00:22:14.470] - Victoria Glam
Being very important in the horse world. Yes, absolutely. All these little inside jokes are annoying when you're on the outside.
[00:22:20.810] - Alice Kingdom
But I'm telling you- You'll have to DM Victoria and see what she's talking about then. I'm not going to tell you.
[00:22:24.630] - Victoria Glam
You have no idea what you're missing going to conferences. When I started coming to my first conference, you were there. It was 08:00 AM in February of this year.
[00:22:32.340] - Alice Kingdom
This is your first conference? I didn't know that, okay.
[00:22:34.680] - Victoria Glam
Because prior to COVID, I was signed up for a PMU Summit, but of course that didn't happen. But that was the first time I'd ever even heard of them. And then it was COVID lockdown, and then when the very first one came up, I was asked to speak because I had spent that last two years really building relationships and building myself up as an educator. So I said, yeah, no brainer, of course, I'll come to L. A, I'll speak, and I do not ever get nervous or uncomfortable about that. I don't get embarrassed, nothing.
[00:23:03.840] - Alice Kingdom
So.
[00:23:04.230] - Victoria Glam
That was fine for me. I didn't even think about it twice. But then when I got there, I realized this is so much more than me traveling here and speaking, and hoping to get some leads for.
[00:23:15.440] - Alice Kingdom
A class. Oh, yeah. Way more to be like, You've not messaged me, and I'm like, I've not had time. I'm so busy chatting and learning, and it's... I have to remind myself to stop and take a photo sometimes, because there's so much going on.
[00:23:34.180] - Victoria Glam
You can, if you plan ahead, you can get some friends from the conference and have some downtime scheduled and go see the place that you're in, which is nice. Which is great, we do it. We make sure to... Carol will be and yesterday, what day is it? I don't know. We went all through Covent Garden. Yeah, so we still got to do some sightseeing and some travel, which is nice, and I think that's the allure, the glam, the glitz of traveling. But truthfully, my business has grown more from meeting people and being in the room when business is actually happening than in three years of trying to do it together. And you know.
[00:24:09.820] - Alice Kingdom
Sometimes I think that a single artist, if you're watching this and you're thinking, I'm not a trainer, I don't have a product, I'm not that person, what does it give me? It doesn't matter, because you will still grow your personal business as an artist and as a business person or on a personal level, just by being in the room with the people that.
[00:24:32.450] - Victoria Glam
Get you. Yeah, and by the way, that's when the door is open for you. If you want those things, you want to be a trainer. Look, your relationship with Everlasting is how you became a trainer. Absolutely. If you don't have those relationships with people, you're not going to elevate. You're going to be guessing your way through it, or paying a lot. There are people who pay for coaching so that they can learn how to do things, but they're probably going to overpay when they could have bought a $1,200 ticket. Where was this conference?
[00:24:56.960] - Alice Kingdom
Which one?
[00:24:58.940] - Victoria Glam
This one that we're at.
[00:24:59.790] - Alice Kingdom
Oh, sorry.
[00:25:01.050] - Victoria Glam
How much should we pay for a ticket for.
[00:25:03.880] - Alice Kingdom
You, Kim? Oh, for here? Depending on which one you go for, it's about £800 or £900.
[00:25:09.740] - Victoria Glam
Okay, £800 or £900 versus $13,000. Absolutely. And you meet everyone that you would have been talking about in your coaching sessions.
[00:25:18.940] - Alice Kingdom
And the.
[00:25:19.520] - Victoria Glam
Expediency is out.
[00:25:20.650] - Alice Kingdom
Of control. And if I trace back the times that I've been on stage and the demos and things that I've done, they've all come off the back of me, like you say, being in the room with that person and saying, Hey, I run a conference.
[00:25:33.690] - Victoria Glam
All of my distributors, every conference that I got invited to was because of a conversation at the last one. It all builds on each other like this is really where relationships are made. If you're not in the room when business is being done, you're not part of the business. So when you said that, well, someone else told me that you were in charge of UK PMU conference, we already knew each other, but I was sniffing you out. I was like, where is she?
[00:25:59.130] - Alice Kingdom
I need to go and speak to her. And then I threatened you.
[00:26:01.750] - Victoria Glam
Remember I threatened you?
[00:26:03.970] - Alice Kingdom
I don't remember, so it can't have been a nasty threat.
[00:26:08.750] - Victoria Glam
I said, I want to speak at the UKPMU conference, and you blew me off. You said, Well, I don't know where everyone wants to, and we're full right now. And I said, Okay, I'm speaking tomorrow at two o'clock. I want you to come in the room and sit front row, which you did not, but that's what I asked.
[00:26:24.850] - Alice Kingdom
I didn't.
[00:26:25.130] - Victoria Glam
Come and sit in. But not front row. No, not front row. I said front row, and when I get off that stage, you will have to have me at your office. So it was a vague threat, a veiled threat. And then afterwards, I was actually really... I was having the moment that you had earlier. So I was sitting aside with Veronica Fleyser and maybe Tracy, and I was not sobbing, but I had a tear and I was just saying how supported I felt and how I just really felt like I had fulfilled something I was so called to do because I love public speaking and I love making relationships with people, and I had met so many people in person that I knew only from the internet because during lockdown, I had to talk to DM every person on the planet. So I had all these friends in my head who were like, Oh, my God, you did amazing. It was the most supportive bubble I could have ever been in. And I was just overwhelmed. And you walked over and said, Sorry to interrupt, but I have a bone to pick with you. What?
[00:27:23.270] - Victoria Glam
And you said, Well, now I have to find space for you. I'm not KPM.
[00:27:29.620] - Victoria Glam
I'm at a conference. I thought that was really funny, but it was so effective. And even today, I mean, we've been in UK for 36 hours. We're almost sold out. I have a 50-piece order for me waiting at home. I have someone who wants to be a new distributor for us through her Amazon store, which is already approved for Amelgesics. I got two new students who.
[00:27:55.770] - Alice Kingdom
Are- We have follow on.
[00:27:57.770] - Victoria Glam
And that's another thing. I have a distributor in new here right in the UK. That's another thing. I have a distributor in new here right in the UK. Somebody else asked if they could be my UK distributor, and I'm like, Sorry.
[00:28:08.190] - Alice Kingdom
But.
[00:28:08.460] - Victoria Glam
Now I'm almost at the end and I can just start sending them to you. That pays me right back, because every bottle you sell is a bottle I sold you.
[00:28:17.360] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah, so we'll do a sub deal.
[00:28:19.420] - Victoria Glam
Yeah, absolutely. And then, of course, I got our list from the signup sheet and everything, so now I have new contacts. So the circle starts again. It's an amazing idea. I don't know who came up with conferences. I don't know whose idea it was, but whoever it was, I owe them a kiss on the shoe or something because nothing has moved my business.
[00:28:42.990] - Alice Kingdom
Fast to pull off a horse.
[00:28:44.130] - Victoria Glam
Anywhere else. They are so much fun. Actually, it's the most fun because when you're at home, they are so much fun. Actually, it's the most fun because when you're at home and you're shop by yourself, it's monotony. People only come to you with problems. But when you're at the conference, people come to you with drinks. They do. It's a very different life. I'm never leaving. Now it's all a business write off because I sandwich two conferences with a couple of days in between.
[00:29:09.240] - Alice Kingdom
Yeah, that's a smart way.
[00:29:10.590] - Victoria Glam
To do it. -on our write-off, we're taking our anniversary. Yeah, that's a smart way to do it. We're going to Switzerland and Germany, places I have wanted to see the Swiss Alps since I first saw.
[00:29:18.830] - Alice Kingdom
Them in sound music. You're going to love it. It's so clean and so beautiful. Switzerland is one of my.
[00:29:23.580] - Victoria Glam
Favorite places. It's very expensive. Every dollar I make, I'm going to spend there.
[00:29:25.620] - Alice Kingdom
Everywhere is really expensive. Very expensive in Switzerland.
[00:29:29.640] - Victoria Glam
If you were talking to someone who is maybe six months, maybe a year into permanent makeup in their own shop and they said, You know what? You guys made that sound really fun. I want to get to a conference. What would your advice to them be?
[00:29:42.800] - Alice Kingdom
Don't wait. Don't wait. Fight, fight, fight, fight. Google PMU conference UK. Yeah, obviously the UK one is really fun. Google your conferences, Google PMU conference, Google PMU Congress, Google PMU Championship. We're out there. We're in every... There are not we personally, but as conferences, there are conferences all the way around the world. Yes, you're putting one together as well, aren't you? So they're everywhere. Don't be afraid of going on your own. Please don't be afraid of going on your own.
[00:30:17.850] - Victoria Glam
Yeah, actually, it's almost better, your first one, because that's when you're actually out there meeting people you don't want to feel like you have to drag your husband.
[00:30:24.020] - Alice Kingdom
Around you. In fact, about 10 minutes before we came in here, a lady came up to me and she said, I've been wanting to speak to you all weekend, and I went, Oh, okay, pleased to meet you. And she said, I'm having a wonderful time and I was so nervous to come and I could see her name on her little lanyard. She'd messaged me to say, I'm coming on my own and I'm quite anxious and I don't know what to do and I don't know what to do. I said to her, It's going to be really friendly, but please come and find me. Come and say hi, come and see the person that's running our buddy system, everything will be fine. I said, How have you found it? She said, Yeah, I didn't need to worry at all, did I? I said, No, you didn't need to worry. She said, I'm really pleased that I came. So yes, if someone is... Or if you've been in the industry 10 years and you've never been to one and you don't know what the buzz is about, it's not just about learning new skills, new techniques. There is a lot of fun and it's a lot of networking.
[00:31:21.240] - Alice Kingdom
It is so much more. So Google and see what's about. They're all different. They're all so different. They've all got different personalities. All of the conferences, and we think you'll agree, this, the IAM, Prague, the ones that you've done so far, so different. You don't even need to think, Well, I've done that one, and now I've done conference.
[00:31:41.730] - Victoria Glam
Because they're so different. They're even different year to year because they'll have different speakers on, different experiences. Absolutely. If somebody is interested in coming to the UK PMU conference, I know tickets are already on.
[00:31:52.030] - Alice Kingdom
Sale for next year. They are 18-month break. I think rather than annually, we're going to do Spring 25, right? I think rather than annually, we're going to do Spring 25. It'll be every 18 months. They're really good value, but they're a big investment financially, so it gives people a little bit more time to put their pennies together. It's a write off. It's a write off. But yes, tickets are available for April 2025. They're secured with a deposit and then the rest can be paid off as and when. But the early bird tickets are in really good deals. We're going to sell out again. We sold out this year. We're going to sell out again.
[00:32:32.080] - Victoria Glam
What's the website?
[00:32:34.060] - Alice Kingdom
The website is pmuconference. Co. Uk.
[00:32:37.470] - Victoria Glam
Yes, and I will link that in the show notes as well, as well as a link to body and browse so that they can through to your courses as well as products.
[00:32:45.950] - Alice Kingdom
But also if you Google Alice Kingdom UK PMU conference, not only will you find me, hopefully you'll find lots of beautiful pictures of Alice.
[00:32:53.880] - Victoria Glam
In Wonderland. Yeah, you better add that PMU conference at the end, or you're not going to find Alice in Wandyland.
